About Jammu University CDOE
Jammu University Distance Education was established in 1969, following the bifurcation of the erstwhile University of Jammu & Kashmir. Its distance-education wing was set up in 1976 and now runs as the Centre for Distance & Online Education, extending the university’s reach to learners who can’t attend regular classes — working professionals, homemakers, and students across Jammu & Kashmir and Neighbouring regions.
On recognition, the Programmes are approved by the UGC-DEB, backed by AIU and NCTE, and the university holds an NAAC ‘A+’ grade — so the distance degrees are valid for government jobs and higher studies. Learning is supported by printed study material, online resources, recorded lectures, and weekend contact classes at regional Centres. The fees are notably affordable, which is much of the appeal for first-time and returning learners alike.
