About SDLCE Kakatiya University

Kakatiya University was founded in 1976 to serve higher education in the Telangana region, with Warangal  once the seat of the Kakatiya rulers as its base. The distance wing came a little over a decade later, in 1988, first as SDLCE and now as the Centre for Distance and Online Education. It holds the status of a constituent unit under a dual-mode university, and it’s grown into the largest ODL institution of its kind in the state, with an enrolment running to around 40,000 students.

The recognition side is straightforward: the programmes carry UGC-DEB approval, and the university is NAAC ‘A+’ accredited, so the distance degrees hold the same weight as the regular ones for jobs and further study. Delivery runs on printed and digital study material, Personal Contact Programme (PCP) sessions at study centres, and term-end examinations. A wide network of Learner Support Centres  not only in Telangana but in a few other states  backs the whole system up.
